VALDOSTA, Ga. For the second time in three games, Valdosta State scored twice in its last at bat to beat North Alabama in the final regular season softball series Sunday.
A two run seventh inning gave the Blazers a 5 4 win over UNA to cap a three game sweep.
UNA (30 17) enters this week’s Gulf South Conference tournament in Huntsville as the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 seed Valdosta State in its tournament opener on Thursday.
UNA scored single runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings to take a 4 3 lead before the host Blazers won on a one out sacrifice fly by Tana McDaniels.
In the series opener, the Blazers scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally for a 4 3 win.
In the finale,
UNA got single runs in the top of the first, third, sixth and seventh frames. Bailey Nelson led off the game with a single and later scored on an RBI single by Sydney Sanders.
